Scintillant Ventures Ltd. | Effective date: October 21, 2026
1.1 These CS Genie Terms (the "CS Genie Terms") are an agreement between you and Scintillant Ventures Ltd. ("Scintillant", "we", "us") for your use of CS Genie, our mathematics problem and worksheet generator, whether you bought it for yourself, a school allocated a seat to you, you bought it as a parent, or you are using the starter version included with a Pro plan.
1.2 The Classroom Studio Terms of Service also apply, together with the Individual Subscription Terms, School Subscription Terms, or Terms of Use for Parents and Guardians that apply to your account. If these CS Genie Terms conflict with any of them, these CS Genie Terms prevail for CS Genie and its output. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms of Service.
2.1 If you buy CS Genie for yourself or as a parent, you accept these CS Genie Terms by clicking to agree at checkout. Before you pay we show you the price, the billing frequency, the total including tax, that the plan renews automatically until you cancel, how to cancel and what refund applies, and, for parents, the caps in section 5. By ticking the renewal box you agree to automatic renewal. Within 15 days we email you a confirmation with those details and a copy of, or link to, the version of these CS Genie Terms you accepted.
2.2 If a school allocates a CS Genie seat to you, you accept these CS Genie Terms by clicking to agree when you first use CS Genie under that seat. The school accepts them when it buys CS Genie seats.
2.3 We record the version you accepted and the date and time, and we will not take payment without that record.
3.1 CS Genie generates mathematics problems and worksheets, with worked solutions, across a range of curriculum topics and grade levels. You can generate by topic, choosing the settings yourself, or by curriculum, choosing a province, grade, and curriculum expectations.
3.2 How problems are produced. Each problem is generated at the moment you request it by applying a deterministic algorithm to a problem template, varying the numbers and context each time, and computing the solution by the same method. There is no stored bank of finished questions.
3.3 No artificial intelligence. CS Genie does not use artificial intelligence, machine learning, or a language model to produce problems or solutions. Nothing you generate is sent to a third-party model, and nothing you do with CS Genie is used to train any model. If we ever add a feature that uses artificial intelligence, we will describe it separately and it will not change this statement about CS Genie's problem generation.
3.4 We add to the library and do not remove from it. We may add topics, variants, and grade coverage over time. We do not withdraw a problem type once it is available, except where we must because of a change to a third-party curriculum framework, a licensing or legal requirement, or another event outside our reasonable control, in which case we will give you notice and, where practical, a replacement. We may correct or replace a problem type that contains an error and change how problems are presented. This section 3.4 does not prevent us from discontinuing CS Genie as a whole on at least 60 days’ notice, in which case you will receive a pro rata refund of any prepaid fees for the period after discontinuance, and section 8 will continue to apply to Output already generated.
4.1 CS Genie is available as follows:
| Who | Price (CAD, before tax) | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| An individual teacher or tutor, for themselves | $7.50 per month, or $75 per year | Bought by you and attached to your own account. Unlimited use. |
| A school, for its teachers | $75 per teacher per year | Bought by a school administrator and allocated to named teachers under the School Subscription Terms. Unlimited use. |
| A parent or guardian, through the parent portal | $7.50 per month, or $75 per year | Bought by you for use with your own children. Subject to the caps in section 5. |
| Pro plan subscribers | Included with Pro | Starter version only: the generators listed at https://classroom.studio/cs-genie/topics. |
4.2 An individual may buy CS Genie whether they are on the free Starter plan or the Pro plan. It does not require Pro.
4.3 Prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude GST, HST, and any applicable provincial sales tax, which we calculate and show before you pay. The annual price is a discount to twelve monthly payments. Switching between monthly and annual billing takes effect at your next renewal, in the same way as under section 3.4 of the Individual Subscription Terms.
4.4 If you hold CS Genie in more than one capacity, for example as a teacher with a school seat who is also a parent, you are one customer with one entitlement, and you are not charged twice. Your entitlement carries the terms of the capacity in which you obtained it.
5.1 A parent's CS Genie is subject to two limits: a cap on the number of worksheets you can download in each month, and a cap on the number of problems each downloaded worksheet may contain. The current caps are two hundred downloads per month and one hundred problems per worksheet. We show you these caps before you buy and in your account.
5.2 A worksheet that fails to generate is not counted against your cap.
5.3 Add-ons to raise the caps, if we offer them, will be described and priced in the parent portal before you buy and are one-time purchases governed by these CS Genie Terms. Unless the parent portal states otherwise, an add-on applies only to the month in which it is bought, unused capacity does not carry over, and add-ons are non-refundable once any of the added capacity has been used, except where the law requires otherwise.
6.1 There is currently no limit on how much a teacher or school seat holder may generate. While your entitlement is active you may generate problems and worksheets for use in your own teaching.
6.2 We may apply reasonable technical limits on generation rate to protect the service. We will not apply them in a way that prevents ordinary classroom preparation.
6.3 To keep CS Genie available to everyone and to prevent automated misuse, teacher and school use is subject to a fair-use allowance of 200 worksheet generations per month and 100 problems per worksheet. The allowance is set at a level well above ordinary classroom preparation. If we lower it, we will give you at least 30 and not more than 60 days' notice and the change will take effect only at your next renewal.
7.1 Licence. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use the problems, worksheets, and solutions you generate with CS Genie ("Output") for instructional use with your own students or, if you are a parent, with your own children, subject to sections 7.2, 7.3, and 7.6. That includes:
(a) using Output in your own teaching or tutoring, including at a school that charges fees and in tutoring for which you are paid;
(b) including Output in courses you build on Classroom Studio;
(c) printing Output and handing it to your own students, or sharing it with them through a school system; and
(d) if you hold a school seat, sharing Output with colleagues at the same school for the school's own teaching, and the school itself may use that Output for its own teaching on the same terms.
7.2 What you may not do. You may not sell, license, publish, or otherwise commercially exploit Output, whether on the Classroom Studio Store, on any other marketplace, or by any other means, and you may not give Output to anyone other than as permitted in section 7.1. Being paid to teach using Output is permitted. Selling the Output itself, or material substantially consisting of it, is prohibited.
7.3 You may not use Output, or repeated generation from CS Genie, to build, train, or improve a competing or derivative problem generator, question bank, dataset, or similar product, and you may not attempt to reverse engineer or derive the algorithms or problem templates behind CS Genie. These restrictions are conditions of the licence in section 7.1.
7.4 We retain all intellectual property in CS Genie, the problem templates and algorithms, and the Output. Section 7.1 grants a licence to use only. You may not remove or obscure any ownership, trademark, or financial literacy notice that appears on Output.
7.5 Commercial licences. If you want to sell material that includes Output, contact us. We may offer a separate commercial licence on its own terms. If we later widen the licence in section 7.1, the wider licence applies to you on notice without any further acceptance, because it only benefits you.
7.6 If you materially breach section 7.2, 7.3, or 6.2, we may, on notice, suspend or end your entitlement and terminate the licence in section 7.1, including for Output already generated, in addition to any other remedy available to us.
8.1 You may continue to use Output you generated while your entitlement was active under section 7 after the entitlement ends, unless the licence is terminated under section 7.6. Ending a subscription does not withdraw permission to use material you already made. "Generated while your entitlement was active" means Output for which the generation request was completed before the entitlement ended, as recorded by our systems.
8.2 When your entitlement ends you can no longer generate anything new.
8.3 Where a school allocated your seat, section 8.1 applies to you personally, and the school's own licence under section 7.1(d) to Output created for its teaching continues, whether or not the seat is later reallocated and after you leave the school.
9.1 CS Genie maps topics to provincial curriculum expectations. We maintain those mappings in good faith and review them periodically, but curricula change and we do not warrant that any problem or worksheet meets the requirements of a particular curriculum, examination, or jurisdiction at any given time. Deciding what is appropriate for your students remains a matter of your professional judgment.
10.1 We take care over the correctness of the algorithms and templates from which problems and solutions are produced, and we correct errors we find or that are reported to us. We do not represent that any individual generated problem or solution has been reviewed by a person.
10.2 You are responsible for reviewing Output before you use it with students or rely on it for assessment.
10.3 Subject to section 16.1 of the Terms of Service, we are not liable for loss arising from an error in a problem or solution.
10.4 Financial literacy content. Problems involving tax, mortgages, loans, investments, and similar subjects use rates, brackets, and market data current as at the year stated on the worksheet, and change over time. This content is for teaching purposes only. It is not financial, tax, investment, or legal advice and must not be relied on for any real decision. Each worksheet containing this content carries a notice to that effect.
11.1 An individual or parent may cancel CS Genie at any time from their account settings, without any fee. Cancellation, refunds, renewal reminders, price changes, and failed payments work in the same way as for the Pro plan under sections 6 and 7 of the Individual Subscription Terms, which apply to your CS Genie subscription as if repeated here with references to the Pro plan read as references to CS Genie, whether you bought CS Genie as an individual or as a parent: a monthly plan runs to the end of the month with no refund; an annual plan ends on cancellation with a daily pro rata refund of the unused portion within 15 days.
11.2 A school administrator may cancel the school's CS Genie seats under the School Subscription Terms. A school's CS Genie seats depend on the school holding an active plan and lapse with it.
12.1 CS Genie is a trademark of Scintillant Ventures Ltd.
13.1 Sections 14 (changes to terms), 15 (disclaimer), 16 (limitation of liability), 17 (indemnity), 18 (governing law and disputes), and 19 (general) of the Terms of Service apply to these CS Genie Terms. For the purpose of section 16.3 of the Terms of Service, amounts paid for CS Genie count together with everything else you have paid us.
13.2 If you are buying as an individual or parent for your own use, you have rights under the consumer protection law of the province or territory where you live that these CS Genie Terms do not limit or exclude.
